Best practices for reliable recordings

Prevent interrupted recordings, incomplete uploads, and missing notes on mobile, desktop, and telehealth visits.

Use the native Skriber mobile app when recording on a phone. Use Chrome when recording on a computer. Before the patient visit, make a short test and confirm the audio level moves.

Before every visit

  • Update Skriber from the App Store or Google Play.

  • Confirm microphone permission and choose the correct microphone.

  • Start with a stable internet connection and enough device power.

  • Select the patient and note template before recording.

  • Follow your organization's consent policy before recording.

On iPhone, iPad, or Android

  • Use the native Skriber app instead of a mobile browser when possible.

  • Do not force-close Skriber during a recording or upload.

  • If you switch apps or lock the screen, return to Skriber and confirm that recording or upload progress continues.

  • After End Visit, keep Skriber available until upload and processing progress is visible.

  • If an incoming call interrupts the visit, return to Skriber and verify the visit state before starting anything new.

On a computer

  • Use a current version of Chrome.

  • Keep the Skriber tab open and keep the computer awake.

  • Do not close Chrome while the visit is uploading or processing.

  • Check the input microphone if a headset, dock, monitor, or continuity device is connected.

For telehealth or phone calls

Skriber must hear both sides. Headphones often prevent the patient audio from reaching the recording device. Use an approved Zoom connection when available, speaker audio, or a second device positioned to hear the conversation.
