Use Custom Instructions

Set persistent note preferences for a template without rebuilding the template itself.

Use Custom Instructions for preferences you want Skriber to follow repeatedly. Use Visit Context for facts or directions that apply only to one encounter.

Add or change instructions

  1. Open a visit or note that uses the intended template.

  2. Choose Custom Instructions.

  3. Write short, specific preferences.

  4. Save the instructions.

  5. Regenerate the current note if you want the new instructions applied to it.

Good instruction examples

  • Use concise bullets in the Plan section.

  • Place medication changes under Assessment and Plan.

  • Do not include normal review-of-systems items unless discussed.

  • Use the heading 'Patient Instructions' at the end.

Avoid

  • patient-specific facts that belong only to one visit

  • instructions to invent details that were not captured

  • conflicting rules or long copied notes

Template versus instructions

The template controls the main structure and sections. Custom Instructions refine how the note is written. Ask support to change the template when the section structure itself is wrong.
