Fix microphone access on Windows

Allow Chrome to use the correct microphone on Windows and confirm Skriber can hear it.

Check the Windows input device, Windows privacy permission, and Chrome site permission. Then make a short test visit.

1. Choose the microphone in Windows

  1. Open SettingsSystemSound.

  2. Under Input, select the microphone you want to use.

  3. Speak and confirm that the input level moves.

2. Allow microphone access

  1. Open SettingsPrivacy & securityMicrophone.

  2. Turn on microphone access and allow desktop apps to use the microphone.

3. Allow Skriber in Chrome

  1. Open app.skriber.com in Chrome.

  2. Select the site-controls icon at the left of the address bar.

  3. Set Microphone to Allow and reload.

  4. Start a test visit and confirm that the microphone level moves.

If it still does not work

Close other apps that may be using the microphone, reconnect the microphone or headset, and restart Chrome. Try another input device if one is available.
