Patient consent and privacy basics

Understand patient consent, privacy, security resources, and what to avoid sending to support.

Skriber is used in healthcare documentation workflows, so consent, privacy, and security should be handled carefully.

Patient consent

Consent requirements can vary by state, organization, and care setting. Skriber recommends getting patient consent before recording and following your organization's policy.

Example consent language

Many clinicians use a short statement such as: I use a secure documentation tool to help create my visit note. Is it okay if I use it during our conversation?

Use only language that fits your organization's policy and applicable law.

Security information

For security and compliance information, visit trust.skriber.com or contact support for organization-specific questions.

Do not send unnecessary patient details to support

When contacting support, include the account email, approximate visit time, device used, and what happened. Avoid sending unnecessary patient-identifying information unless support gives you a specific secure process.

Retention

Notes are accessible for at least 30 days. Contact support if you need a longer exact retention detail for compliance or administrative review.
