Troubleshooting microphone issues on Windows

Fix microphone access problems when using Skriber from Chrome on Windows.

If Skriber cannot hear you on Windows, check both your Windows microphone settings and browser permissions.

Use Chrome

For desktop recording, use Chrome whenever possible.

Check Windows microphone input

  1. Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar.

  2. Open Sound settings.

  3. Under Input, choose the microphone you want to use.

  4. Confirm the input level moves when you speak.

Allow microphone access in Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Go to app.skriber.com.

  3. Select the lock or settings icon next to the address bar.

  4. Allow microphone access for Skriber.

  5. Refresh the page after changing permissions.

During recording

  • Keep the Skriber tab open and visible.

  • Do not close the browser while uploading or processing.

  • Keep your computer awake.

  • Use a stable internet connection.

If it still does not work

Try restarting Chrome, unplugging and reconnecting the microphone, or using a different microphone. Contact support if recordings still fail after permissions are correct.
