Troubleshooting microphone issues on Mac

Fix microphone access problems when using Skriber from Chrome on macOS.

If Skriber cannot hear you on Mac, check both macOS microphone settings and Chrome site permissions.

Use Chrome

For desktop recording, use Chrome whenever possible. The Skriber iOS app remains the recommended recording path for most users.

Allow microphone access in macOS

  1. Open System Settings.

  2. Go to Privacy & Security.

  3. Select Microphone.

  4. Make sure Chrome is allowed to use the microphone.

  5. Restart Chrome if you changed this setting.

Choose the correct microphone

  1. Open System Settings.

  2. Go to Sound.

  3. Select Input.

  4. Choose the microphone you want to use.

  5. Speak and confirm the input level moves.

Allow microphone access in Chrome

  1. Open app.skriber.com in Chrome.

  2. Select the lock or settings icon next to the address bar.

  3. Allow microphone access for Skriber.

  4. Refresh the page.

During recording

  • Keep the Skriber tab open and visible.

  • Keep the computer awake.

  • Do not close Chrome while uploading or processing.

  • Use a stable internet connection.

If it still does not work

Restart Chrome, check the microphone again, or try a different input device. Contact support if recordings still fail after permissions are correct.
